Abstract

A systematic procedure for the determination of signal settings in a network was developed. Offsets, green splits, and cycle time also were considered. Preliminary results from the traffic flow model, which uses the generalized combination method as its basic building block, indicate that a potential for significant improvements in performance of traffic-signal systems exists.
