Abstract

A new trip distribution model that hypothesizes statistical regularities in travel behaviour was developed. It was pointed out that heterogeneous trip costs typically found to exist in trip making systems tend to distort the pure trip patterns such that the cost of traveling from each origin to each destination must be explicity introduced into the analysis. The proposed parameter estimation and hypothesis-testing techniques were applied to an outdoor recreation system located in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania.
