Abstract

This report contains detailed guidelines which can be applied to the geometric design of rural and urban roads. It relates only to the elements of classification, alignment and cross-section; other elements will be dealt with in later reports. The guidelines are supported by discussion of basic parameters and deduction of working control values from these. Many of the recommendations are set out in tables and diagrams.
