Abstract

Local street roundabouts and S bend slow zones are primarily "designed substandard curves" in an otherwise straight section of roadway which results in motorists reducing their vehicle speed to traverse these devices in comfort. Some 7.700 spot speeds of vehicles traversing these devices were recorded in fine, dry conditions. Large vehicles (trucks and buses) and motorcycles were excluded from the speed recordings.
