Abstract

Experiments indicate that with more surveillance less accidents occur and better traffic behaviour is shown. The requisite level of surveillance differs from town to town. Usually there is too little surveillance. Offences should always be acted upon, while efficiency must be increased. Pedestrians must be seen as road users of full value. Selective traffic surveillance is a task for the whole uniformed police.
