Abstract

The intelligent components of the GIDS system are reviewed in this chapter. The necessity of having such an intelligent component is first discussed. The approach used to build this component is then described, showing what knowledge is required and how it was acquired. Examples of the knowledge and how it is represented and used are also provided. The generic nature of the GIDS system is then discussed, and future developments are examined. For the covering abstract see IRRD 859107.
