Abstract
In this publication, a lot of attention is afforded to the latest methods and techniques, new types of road surfacing and new forms of organisation. Within this context, account has been taken of aspects of road safety, environmental protection and avoiding undue damage to vehicles. As the incidence of icy conditions depends on many factors, no uniform recipe can be offered for the prevention of such conditions or for winter maintenance. The publication can however act as an excellent guide for a more detailed approach, depending of course on such factors as the surrounding environment, the means available and weather conditions. The onus has shifted more towards ice prevention rather than ice clearance thanks to advances in technology.
