The Glasgow experiment schemes and equipment.

Abstract

A Marconi Myriad digital computer has been used to link 80 traffic signals controlling a square mile in the centre of Glasgow in an experiment to measure the benefits of various system of co-ordinated control. Systems ranging from simple fixed-time progressions to minimum delay, computations based on short term traffic predication are to be assessed by measuring average journey times with instrumented cars.
