Abstract

The problems of conducting traffic surveys in London are discussed. It is stated, that, ideally, the flow of traffic, vehicle occupancy and traffic speed in terms of class of vehicle should be measred daily hourly and monthly seasonal variations and trends should also be recorded. Existing surveys carried out in London are discussed. Details are given of the Greater London Council permanent programme.
