Abstract
An analysis is given of the accident statistics of the first six months of 1978 in the Netherlands. On the hand of data of fuel consumption, the number of vehicle miles and the traffic index, the total traffic performance is estimated. The hypothesis that the weather has had not much influence on the total number of fatalities in the first six months of 1978 seems to be justified.
