Abstract

This paper summarises the policy roles of government as an introduction to one particular activity; a Local Multimodal ITS Inventory. This project surveyed all the agencies and companies involved in ITS in one jurisdiction, for all transport modes and all applications. The main components of the inventory are discussed: government agency involvement; current and planned ITS Systems; and ITS suppliers. This inventory identified a much wider variety of ITS applications and range of interests than generally expected. The survey provides essential information for government agencies involved in ITS strategy and policy. Summary results of the survey are reported.
