Abstract

The study reported herein attempts to provide needed answers by first identifying a trade- off between (1) the cost in money, time and effort required for each additional application of a trip distribution model and (2) the increase in intra- group travel time distribution homogeneity obtained through each extra application. This identification then provides a basis for the input to a sequential grouping procedure which determines the trip groups which give the proper balance between cost and homogeneity.
