Abstract

This paper illustrates the performance of a mobile positioning technique applicable to a GSM network. A framework of a passive GSM positioning system has been proposed, and the hybrid TOA/TDOA method has been used. An improved method is proposed in order to mitigate the effect of multipath propagation, and the performance of the proposed system is showed through simulations in various environments. The accuracy for 67% mobile stations (MS) was 70m in urban, and the accuracy, coverage and network load of positioning system were also analyzed.
