Abstract

Franca, a city with 280,000 inhabitants, and Ribeirao Preto, with 500,00 inhabitants, began to implement a transportation net for disabled persons. The structure was based on the special needs of several categories of users, such as the elderly, pregnant women, accident victims, visual and hearing impaired, illiterate, and wheel chair users. This project presents eight items that make up the net and the implementation stages in both Brazilian cities. (A) The French title of this paper is: "Transport pour les handicapés : un réseau pour les villes de taille moyenne dans des pays en voie de développement : l'expérience de Franca et de Ribeirão Preto, état de São Paulo, Brésil".
