In order to make the mobility assessment method more applicable a series of manuals were developed, that helps adapting certain aspects of spatial planning. Some manuals are concerned with freight transport. This specific manual is concerned with 'Freight transport in urban areas'. This document aims at policymakers who work for city councils, regional authorities, road directors etc. and who are concerned with economics, spatial planning and traffic and transport. The manual gives directives concerning the way in which aspects of freight transport can be taken into account in spatial planning processes. It addresses the decision making process concerning the different interests in relation to accessibility and choices in land use that generate freight transport in urban areas. (Author/publisher)
