Abstract

The aim of this manual is to attain the optimum level of safety possible at road works. To this end the manual first of all provides the user with a recognisable framework, within which the roles, tasks and responsibilities are discussed of all those parties involved in Civil Engineering works. Due to the fact that subsequently linked to this are concrete guidelines and advice (on behaviour), the user is thereby made aware of the safety aspects at all stages of the Civil Engineering process. Furthermore the manual acts as an aid to establishing a structured position in the organisation for health and safety operations when working on roads, cycle tracks and footways within, as well as outside built-up areas.
