Abstract

Road works hinder traffic and give rise to danger for road users and road workers. In the Netherlands, it is of great importance that the traffic flow is hindered as little as possible and that it, simultaneously, ensures the safety of road users and road workers. The CROW publication 'Guide to safe road works 2003' [only in Dutch] gives guidelines for safety during road works. Safe labour conditions for road workers are mainly the responsibility of the employer. However, road works involve many other parties. In this publication, a legal framework is described within which the various parties during the road works process ought to comply. Responsibilities and tasks are divided among the parties. The new publication fits better the activities of companies involved in road works. See also C 14871 S (ITRD E201209).
