Abstract
The National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) has amassed reports of more than 17.000 bicycle associated injuries from July 1, 1972 to June 30, 1973. In-depth investigations of over 600 cases have provided detailed information concerning the bicycle injury problem. Loss of control, mechanical and structural problems, and entanglement of body parts in components are causative factors in more than 90% of the cases studied.
