Abstract

The development of a pan-European system to provide management, monitoring, and control of hazardous goods transport by administrative and commercial users involved in the multi-modal transport chain is a necessity. A system that complies with all the users' requirements is described. The system develops a command and control centre, distributed databases and an intelligent terminal, interconnected with communication links. The main functionalities of the system are management of transport operations, monitoring of transport operations, incident alert management, access control of traffic, and hazardous goods data management.
