Abstract

In order to study head movements in driving a special car mounted equipment was constructed. The apparatus registers drivers dimensions using three potentiometers as sensing unit. In a pilot study it was found that in urban road crossings the sum of maximum horizontal head movements to the left and to the right (head angles) seems to be a consistent reliable measure of head movement activity.
