Abstract

A range of issues relevant to evaluating visibility provided by automobile headlamps, with emphasis on the driver visibility model DETECT. The DETECT mathematical model sets up given encounters and predicts seeing distances and glare effects experienced by both the observer and oncoming drivers, DETECTS uses the following independent-, variables; road topography, road reflectance, ambient brightness, highway type, target characteristics, weather and driver age.
