Abstract

One approach to the formulation of elementary headway distribution model based on the distinction between leaders and followers is investigated, and a model of actual head-way distribution in a given time period is derived by assembling the elementary model. The variance of relative speed distribution of successive vehicles is used for estimating the proportion of leaders and followers at a given headway.
