Abstract

Heavy vehicle speeding has been an issue for the road transport industry for many years, primarily from a road safety perspective. This report reviews a range of regulatory measures that could be undertaken with the aim of increasing speed compliance of heavy vehicles. The report provides background information on heavy vehicle speeding, reviews the current regulatory approach to speeding heavy vehicles in Australia and presents a range of potential policy options that can help to address this issue. The NTC is seeking comments from stakeholders that will be used to develop recommendations on a preferred position that will be presented to the Australian Transport Council for consideration.
