Abstract

Automotive designers and design engineers will have much greater scope when designing signal and interior lamps as a result of Hella's new modular lighting system, MOLIS. MOLIS is the first lighting system in the world to realise lighting functions through system components that can be freely combined. Each individual system component forms a complete lamp in miniature format including an LED light source. Special geometric structures take over the functions of the reflector and the visually effective patterned lens and produce the desired light distribution. Due to their special shape the system components can be combined smoothly together. This means that lighting strips of different lengths or contours as well as large differently-shaped surfaces can be designed homogeneously. The choice of the LEDs and the number of system components within the lamp determine the luminous intensity. For the covering abstract see ITRD E123380.
