Abstract

This study has two specific aims. The first is to see whether the existing test requirements in ECE Reg 22.05 relating to dynamic helmet retention (the roll test) are realistically based and how well existing helmet designs comply with these tests when new and used. The second is to identify the mechanism of helmet loss and to quantify the importance of relevant factors such as inertia effects, head geometry and flesh compliance and misuse. (Author/publisher)
