Bus companies annually spent large amounts of money for bus surveys and passenger counts. However, not much is done with the collected data. Yet, the surveys and counts provide the most accurate information about the use of public transport by bus in the city and in the region. Combining the different data can provide new information. It is relatively easy to derive origin destination tables at the zip-code level from these surveys and counts. These tables can be used for collecting data on: (1) passenger mileage; (2) degree of occupancy; and (3) the passenger market. The passenger market data may include details such as: (a) where the passengers live, (b) what their sociological characteristics are, and c) where they are going to. A simple method to derive these tables is presented.
