Abstract

In the introduction the high rate of deaths and wounded, that the modern traffic claims, is pointed out. A short description is given of the issue of driving-licences in the surrounding countries, whereas the regulation, which prevail in Holland, are given in detail. The plan of this investigation is given. It consists of the analysis of 2786 dossiers of persons, who were demanded by the police in the period from 1951 till 1971 to undergo a medical examination on suspicion of unfitness for driving. Thereafter a circumstantial discussion follows on the method of performance of the policial demand. Particular attention is given to the medical professional secret. Then the medical findings of the reports of the assigned specialists are noted, whereby, in need of restriction, only the alcoholism and the decrease of visual faculty are somewhat nearer investigated as possible factors in the causation of traffic accidents. At last a description takes place of special cases of policial demand on suspision of unfitness for driving, providing with comment.
