Abstract

From time to time, the question arises- what sort of effect could the economic recession have on future travel behaviour. In this contribution firstly some recent thoughts on the subject are outlined. Consideration is then given to existing knowledge about recent changes in travel behaviour. Following consideration of adaptations to behaviour a number of possible future developments are outlined. In the conclusions some consequences for traffic and transport policy are suggested.
