Abstract

Accident data of residential areas in four Dutch towns were used to uncover specific relations between one way traffic measures and indicators of traffic safety. Establishing one-way traffic has a decreasing effect on the total number of accidents, and this effect is sometimes related to specific areas. Moped-riders turned out to be the only category of traffic participants for which a (positive) effect could be shown.
