Abstract

An explanatory study is presented dealing with the effect of two important factors of spatial abstraction, i.e. the zone system and the network model, on computer running times for all-or-nothing assignments. On the basis of statistical relationships between city size, road network size and computer time, computer time estimates are derived for nine combinations of zone systems and network models.
