Abstract

Brainstorms are frequently applied for finding new directions for innovations, new possibilities for policies or directions for promising anticipatory research. Also in traffic and transport policies. The effectiveness of a brainstorm is often overvalued. Some hampering processes play a role. Although it has some limitations, a brainstorm may still be a useful technique for specific cases, as a part of the problem solution process.
