Abstract

Spatial interaction theory has become an important descriptive device for the dispersion and coherence of activities in a spatial system. The major part of spatial interaction models derives its theoretical perspective from gravity or entropy theory. In this paper attention is paid to the bases of both theories. Particular attention is given to the methodological problem of interpreting these theories as behavioural devices in social science.
