Abstract
Burgers' model for the description of the visco elastic behaviour of materials appears to be very applicable to asphalt mixes. This model explains types of asphalt mix behaviour which are not explicable by the linear elastic model. The burgers parameters show a good relation to the composition of mixes, and to the quality of the materials. They are also valid for the fatigue quality (in particular energy dissipation). This model seems to provide new methods for mix design.
