Abstract

A research project in The Hague on the circumstances and consequences of 45 traffic accidents between 1 January and 1 April 1977, involving children of 0 to 14 years affirmed the data from the literature. Age, sex, social circumstances personal and accident data are important factors in an accident. In some old parts of town the traffic situation is still very dangerous, despite measures taken. Children get over the consequences of the accident more quickly than their parents do. Traffic education is recommended.
