Abstract

The SWOV aimed to interview 1500 non-respondents from the travel survey carried out by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), to see if this group has a different travel pattern from the responding group. It was expected that those who had refused to participate in the travel survey would as a group, have a travel behaviour not very dissimilar to the responding group. Of those people who were not home it was expected that they would travel more frequently and greater distances. Of the non-respondents 50 % changed their attitudes and answered, but the group of non-respondents remains too important in number. A way has to be found to change that.
