Abstract
The author describes a system developed by the Technical University of Delft, which identifies vehicles through loop detection. The identifying data which a vehicle transmits are so complete, that they constitute a so-called signature As soon as some subsequent irregularities in the traffic stream are detected (rather than isolated ones which would cause false alarm) the central computer may organize a range of measures to minimize the adverse effects of whatever caused the disruption.
