Abstract

Military vehicles form, with other dark and dull vehicles, a badly visible category in traffic. Induced by a lethal accident in which a military truck was involved, it was investigated whether carrying lights at daytime would be helpful. Possible objections were evaluated, experiences elsewhere reviewed, alternative solutions considered. In view of all considerations, it is advised to let military vehicles indeed carry running lights at daytime. For stationary vehicles it is recommended to improve the visibility by letting flicker all trafficator lights.
