Abstract

It is stated that the safety-belt syndrome happens at approximately 0.2- 0.5% of persons involved in a vehicle accident and wearing safety belts. This percentage, which is already low, can still decrease, if the belts are worn correctly. The aim of this study is to describe the course of an accident, the effectiveness of safety belts in an accident and the possibility of the arising injuries by safety belts. Thereafter a schematic summary of published articles of the medical aspects of this subject is presented.
