Abstract

The police can be confronted with accidents in which dangerous materials are involved. Because of the lack of knowledge of some risk-factors and the legislation it was required to determine the task of the police in its relationship with the transport by road of dangerous materials. Recommendations are presented in the following chapters : (i) the primary task of the police as regards the legislation; (ii) the task of the police in giving their advice for a certain routing of such transport; (iii) the flow of such traffic and how to behave in bad weather circumstances such as black ice and fog; (iv) the co-operation between the police and the other officials in dangerous freight transport, and (v) the information and instruction to the surveillants.
