Abstract

In a study to moped and bicycle accidents on or along secondary or tertiary roads with bicycle provisions, it was shown that cyclists and moped riders when crossing roads with a broad central reserve collided more often with vehicles coming from the left than with vehicles coming from the right. With the aid of video- recordings the perception behaviour of these cyclists and moped riders is studied. Measures to improve the perception behaviour should be aimed to force the cyclists and the drivers to look at the left just before the junction.
