Abstract

In urban areas the built environment generates a wind climate that is different from the open space. High rise buildings enforce the wind at ground level. Closed facades create sheltered areas. The wind climate is influenced by the type of built environment. The principal question is then: at which velocities in combination with other climate variables can we expect a comfortable climate in urban areas?
