Abstract

This report presents the findings on the HGV driver survey. The objectives were a) to obtain information from drivers in relation to their safety records, driving practices and their attitudes towards training; b) to try and establish whether there is any correlation between driver training and accident propensity. A total of 178 companies were contacted and asked whether they were prepared to distribute the questionnaires among their drivers. Of these companies 33 (19%) respondents positively. A total of 2300 questionnaires were sent off, of which 617 (27%) were completed and returned direct.
