Abstract

The factors which have to be taken into account in high-mast lighting are discussed: the relative vertical mounting height of the light source above the carriageway to be lit and the spacing /mounting height ratio. A simple procedure for calculating the illumination afforded by high. mast lighting at selected test points is presented. This is particularly applicable for calculating the illumination of elevated roadways.
