Abstract

As the demand for high quality asymmetric IP (internet protocol) services for mobile users is increasing, research is analysing the suitability of today's wireless network for these services. Additional requirements are imposed by users travelling at a high speed. Therefore the COMCAR approach extends the basic concepts of a 'vehicle on the net' towards high quality interactive and broadband IP services for vehicles. This paper describes the overall concepts of COMCAR and a first approach for service mobility in a vehicular environment. It highlights how a future vehicle could be a node on a broadband network, fulfilling even the most demanding user requirements.
