Abstract

This paper describes the working principles and the measurement results obtained to date with the new high-speed deflection tester (RDT) being developed at VTI. Results are presented in four parts: 1) repeatability of measurements; 2) influence of axle load; 3) influence of measurement speed; and 4) comparison of the Laser RDT and a Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD). This paper was also presented at the Third International Symposium on Heavy Vehicle Weights and Dimensions, Queen's College Cambridge, 1992 (IRRD 852223).
