Abstract

The Integrated Project HI-CEPS main objective is the research on innovative and cost competitive highly integrated thermal-electric hybrid powertrain configurations to be used in mass produced vehicles available on the European market from 2010/2012. In particular three different complex hybrid solutions (series-parallel split hybrids) each with different engines (gasoline, diesel and natural gas) and comprehensive of the related aftertreatment systems will be investigated adopting low cost and standardised common powertrain electric devices, vehicle and powertrain thermal and electric auxiliaries and dedicated ICEs adjustable for future fuels. System analyses and verification tests will be performed on the prototype powertrains and related devices both at bench and, for two systems, at vehicle validator level. The HI-CEPS outcome will be used for a complete technical and cost assessment/comparison (A). For the covering abstract of the conference see ITRD E212343.
