Abstract

The Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2286 consists of 19 papers that explore the 2010 Highway Capacity Manual operational analysis methodology for interchange ramp terminals, left-turn waiting areas at signalized intersections in China, auxiliary through lanes in highway capacity analysis, right-turn-on-red capacity for dual right-turn lanes at signalized intersections, signal countdown timers, and the distribution function of critical gaps at unsignalized intersections. This issue of the TRR also examines work zone capacity, driver following behavior on two-lane rural highways, the rationale for incorporating queue discharge flow into 2010 Highway Capacity Manual procedure for analysis of freeway facilities , recurring freeway bottlenecks, operational performance and speed–flow relationships for basic managed lane segments, calibration and validation of the 2010 Highway Capacity Manual capacity model for single-lane roundabouts, capacity drop in highway merging sections, and managed lane analysis on freeways in context of the 2010 Highway Capacity Manual.
