Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2195 contains 18 papers that explore risk-based design, low-volume roads cross-section design, truck acceleration speeds at weigh stations, urban clear zone distance, passing sight distance, rural expressway intersection design guidance, the effects of freeway design elements on safety, and lengths of left-turn lanes at signalized intersections. This issue of the TRR also examines stone masonry guardwall, crash-damaged strong-post W-beam guardrail, roadway departure and impact conditions, anchor design for high-tension cable guardrails, precast concrete barrier adjacent to steep roadside slope, improving wayshowing for America's byways, influence of highway design on operator speeds, the Maryland abutment scour equation, predicting the hydraulic conductivity of permeable pavements, and buried duct network for utility cables along roads and highways.
