Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record (TRR): Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2437 consists of eight papers that document a method for modeling crash severity; the development of a selection table for bridge railings; the frequency of heavy-vehicle encroachment; and performance of the Midwest guardrail system with rectangular wood posts. This issue also explores weak-post W-Beam guardrail attachments to culvert headwalls; a safety investigation and guidance for retrofitting existing approach guardrail transitions; effective median barrier lateral placement for varying highway cross sections; and pinned-down temporary concrete barriers with transition systems for limited-space work zone applications.
