Abstract

This paper concentrates on cycling in cities in Cambridge- shire. The highest accident rates are found at major road junctions, and of these, most of the top worst accident sites are roundabouts. Some low key and comparatively cheap soluti- ons usedto prevent such accidents in Cambridge and in Peter- borough new town are illustrated and discussed. The vulnerabi- bility of cyclists in old as opposed to new towns is also dis cussed, using Cambridge and Peterborough as new town examples.
